Man's Eye View Of Weddings

So! I am going to get married. Who would have thought it eh!

I want my wedding to be the best. I can almost see it all now. The church, the cars, everyone dressed up.

When shall we have the great day?

When?

M'mm

I wonder how much notice you need to give the vicar. Still my wife to be and future mother in law can sort all that out. Mind you, how many brownie points will I get if I can come up with some suggestions!

I know, I will help with it all. That will impress everyone!

To start with then. When?

If we are going to a church, how do we arrange that? Do we need to be members of that church?   What about all the other places you can get married. How do I find out about those?

What does everybody wear? Will suits do or does it mean hiring outfits for me and the best man? If so, who else needs to be kitted out?

Best man! Who can that be? Is that my choice? What part of the organisation does he get involved in apart from the stag night?

Where can we have the reception? I suppose the pub will do, but where else can it be? What about food? How many people do we have to feed? How do we know that everybody will eat the meal we have? How much is that going to cost? Drinks! Do we give everybody a drink or do they buy their own? Do we need to have champagne? Do we need a band or a disco?

I suppose it should be at a place which is easy to get to. What if people have to stay overnight? What hotels or bed and breakfast places are available? Do we have to pay for any of that? Where do we stay? Do we have a bridal suite? What about the next morning? Do we get breakfast? Who else has breakfast with us?

Still, we can make up for all the money we are spending by asking for really expensive presents! Who do we ask though? Do we have to arrange a list? Who has to do that?

Money! It seems to be turning into an expensive time. That's alright   though, the bride's father has to pay. Doesn't he? What if he cannot afford to do all this? Who else contributes? Do I have to?

Flowers! Who brings these? Apart from the bouquet, do we need any more? If we do, then when do we get them? Where do they all go? The church, the reception? Where?

I know we shall need a cake. Do we just buy one or does it need to be made especially? How long does it take to make one?

Cars! We'll have really nice cars for the day.   The day?   Do we have them all day or just for the journey to the reception. Who gets to ride in them? How many do we need? Hang on. How much are these going to cost? It would be great to have a fleet of big cars but who pays for them?

Photographs.   Everybody has a camera now so they can all snap away. That will be enough. Or will it. I suppose we need a family shot or two. Get a photographer to take these. How much? It is all building up! Do we need one or two shots or an album full? Who gets copies apart from the happy married and increasingly broke couple?

There are so many things to think of!
