Top Ten Wedding Tips

1. Open a savings account as soon as possible and save on a regular basis.

2. Meet with both sets of parents or relatives that may want to contribute to your wedding. This will give you a definitive idea of what you will need to budget for. The “who pays for what” section on this site may provide some help and guidance.

3. Take out Wedding Insurance. We don’t like to think anything can go wrong but don’t take the risk.

4. Keep to your prepared budget and update it regularly. To gain access to your own personal budget planner, log in here.

5. Start to collect samples and cuttings of things you like from magazines. This will give your suppliers an idea of your taste/style/theme and colours.

6. Keep all suppliers details together and create a separate wedding file.

7. Take your samples and ideas from number 5 and communicate exactly what you like and dislike to suppliers. Don’t be afraid to say no, this is your day.

8. Make sure the photographer knows what special photos you want on the day. Detail your requirements, distribute to the photographer and give a copy to someone you trust on the day to make sure this happens.

9. Weddings and wedding talk can take over your life; take time out with those that you love.

10. Don’t get carried away with all of the preparations, it can be a stressful time but at the end of the day never lose sight of the real meaning of why you are doing this.
